Many are not happy that CBS chose a new slate of shows to air on the Fall, and none of them feature a female lead.
“The way things turned out, those pilots were not felt to be as good as some of the other series that were picked up,” a male CBS exec said at the TCA this week. “That’s just the cycle of business and how it happens sometimes.”
The CBS casting department is comprised of only white individuals, to which CBS responded, “They’ve been together for a long time. We are cognizant of the issue, we hear you and we will be looking to expand the casting department.”
Jessica Chastain, who has championed for women in film and TV, issued a response on Twitter to this news, writing, “I’ll just @netflix and chill. Or some @HBO greatness. Or anything by #RyanMurphy There’s so many incredible options that dont include @CBS.”
