Lena Dunham is firing back at the animal shelter from where she adopted her dog Lamby after they disputed her story that her dog had been abused by previous owners.
The former Girls actress updated fans last month about how she made the “heartbreaking decision” to give up her dog and let him live at a professional facility due to the aggression he showed throughout the four years she cared for him.
“We checked the records for Lamby,” a rep for BARC Shelter told Yahoo Celebrity. “He was ‘owner surrendered, not enough time,’ so we do not know where she got ‘multiple owners that abused the dog.’” The rep then went on to say he would have told Lena if the dog had issues and that the shelter does not “lie about the dogs’ histories because that gets them returned.”
Lena took to Instagram on Thursday night (July 6) to say how much the shelter’s statement hurts her.
“I have weathered a lot of micro-scandals but this one hurts MOST, because of the vulnerability of letting people know Lamby and my story, and because I miss him so damn much,” she said.
