A Grey’s Anatomy spinoff series is heading to ABC this fall!
During the network’s upfronts on Tuesday (May 16), it was announced that the spinoff project from Grey’s showrunner Shonda Rhimes has received a straight-to-series order for next season.
The upcoming project will be set in a Seattle firehouse and “follows a group of heroic firefighters. From the captain to the newest recruit, the show revolves around these brave men and women as they risk their lives and their hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock,” Deadlinereports.
“No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and Grey’s signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff,” said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey.
This isn’t the first time Shonda created a spinoff from Grey’s. Back in 2007, Shonda premiered Private Practice which followed former Grey’s star Kate Walsh and her character Doctor Addison Montgomery as she left Seattle for a new practice in Los Angeles.
